So earlier tonight I heard the amazing 500 Miles (to the Airport) MapCrunch song by the talented Alexis and immediately contacted her to see if I could add a harmony. She was all for it and so here it is…lyrics completely by her, as is the awesome uke-ing, I’m just the high bits :D
Lyrics (which can also be found on her website):
I don’t wake up
‘Cause I haven’t gone to sleep
Since Tumblr showed me MapCrunch.comBut I go out
All across Google’s Earth
Though I couldn’t tell you where I started fromDid I get drunk?
‘Cause that would sure explain
Why I’m walking online streets aloneIf I haver
Well, there’s no one to hear me
I’m crying; let me find my way home‘Cause I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the girl who walked a thousand
Miles to find the airport doorI’m not working
No, I haven’t worked in weeks
I’m lost somewhere in Sweden these daysI’ve got no money (got no money)
But I’ve travelled half the world
Now I’m living on the African freeways‘Cause I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the girl who walked a thousand
Miles to find the airport doorda da da da (echo) – harmony
I’m so lonely
I’m surrounded by you people
And no one tells me where this highway goesSo I’ll grow old (so I’ll grow old)
And I’ll die out here alone
In the middle of this endless country road‘Cause I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the girl who walked a thousand
Miles to find the airport doorhow is this simultaneously hilarious and hauntingly lovely?
MapCrunch is easily the best thing to happen on Tumblr since #believeinsherlock.
I tried it today and just wanted to flip my desk. I am pretty sure I was in Finland, and nothing made sense.
SO PERFECT. It could be a great love song, or a sad song, but it’s actually about a song about one’s experiences with an online meme, and you know what? It actually is all three.
